One of the most exhilarating and adventurous activities that can be experienced in life is skydiving. Nothing will get your heart racing and blood pumping as much as jumping out of a plane almost 10,000 feet in the air. Skydiving is not for the faint of heart or those whom are physically disabled as the impact of the parachute along with the impact of landing can be very rough on the body. Only individuals who are in good physical shape should attempt to go skydiving. As an added sense of protection though, any first time skydiver will be required to jump with an experienced instructor to ensure all goes as planned.

Factors of Cost

There are many different elements that will factor into the price of skydiving such as whether its tandem, the location, and the company you choose. A tandem jump will be required for the first jump when going skydiving no matter where you go and should cost anywhere between $135 and $250. This is more expensive that solo jumps due to the fact that an instructor must accompany you along with the renting of equipment. If you are to the point where you are going on individual jumps, there will be no instructor or equipment fee so the cost will be much less at only $75 to $150. Locations in the Midwest region such as Michigan typically offer packages starting at around $220. Besides traditional skydiving, there is also skydiving which doesn’t require an airplane that is substantially cheaper. There are wind tunnels or zero gravity chambers that will give the effects of skydiving without the risk and danger which usually charge by the minute. Skydiving like this should cost about $20 per minute.

Additional Costs to Skydiving

There are special packages that are offered in addition to the base price of skydiving. Extras available to purchase usually involve photography or videos of your flight. To get a recording of your flight, plan on spending an additional $50 to $100. A simple photograph is much cheaper, only costing an additional $10-$20. Some people would prefer to jump alone versus with an instructor but this is not permitted without skydiving classes. These classes will add heavily to the cost but if you plan on making this a long-term hobby or even a career, the cost is well worth it at an average of $2,250.

Ways to Save Money

Group discounts are a great way to save a few dollars along with having a great time with a group of friends. Skydiving is a great bonding experience as it is a memory you will be able to share with the rest of your lives. Many companies offer group discounts anywhere from 10% up to 20% but it’s a good idea to call ahead to see what they offer. Weekends and peak season also tend to be much more expensive than weekdays or off season. Save up to 35% by going skydiving on a Monday or before the season really gets booming.
